Take Me Further
Take me further down the road.
This patch of grass is growing old.
I don’t know where it’s gonna lead
but I know I have to go.
These streets are full of dirt and grime,
just like the highway of my mind
ever since I packed my bags
and left it all behind.
My heart is heavy but my feet are fast.
I’m on my way, I’m turning back.
Now I just need to find
where I left you last.
Traveling for quite a while
and I’m counting every mile
until I get back to you,
until I see you smile.
One day I’ll be home again;
we’ll share a laugh just like old friends,
we’ll forget about the past
and memories will mend.
So take me further down the road.
Faster now, I’m growing old.
I’m sorry that I ever left;
I thought I had to go.
